Golden Ratio Fractals

Life

What happens when you introduce the Golden Ratio to the Mandelbrot set?

Well this is exactly what I wanted to find out so I set about coding a fractal generator and after literally the first run of the first code build these images popped out.

I was so amazed at the extent of the 'almost magical' similarity to life that I have never been able to change the original code. That was over 20 years ago. I have created other versions with an improved interface, but the results of the first algorithm are, in my opinion, a mathematical dance of code imitating art imitating life.

After close examination of the images something amazing jumps out, which is the multitude of organic shapes that for all intents and purposes, resemble life.

I’ve seen flowers, vegetation, coral, sea creatures, birds, cats, squirrels, human’s even dinosaurs, and much, much more. I've spent hours over the years just zooming and generating and so far each time I do this I find images of obvious and highly recognizable life form shapes, resembling life on Earth.

There are even 'Islands of stability'
